Today is a really exciting day! I am exhilarated to share this feature today.

Dr. Morgan Francis has been such a beacon of light in my journey with self love over the past 18 months. When I spoke with her to set up the feature, we discussed following a slightly different format as our gift to you for Valentine’s Day. Make sure you check out our special video below!

I am so grateful that she is here to share her expertise with all of us.

What is your name???

Dr. Morgan Francis. I am a doctor of clinical psychology and I specialize in body image.

Where can we find you?

My private practice, Scottsdale Premier Counseling, is in North Scottsdale.

You can find me daily on instagram! I post mindful messages, helpful tips, and generate discussion around body image, self love, and other mental health topics.

What lights you up inside?

My children, my husband, and my new puppy Gus!

You can just see the joy with her family!!

10 Things! Respond with the first answer that pops into your head.

·      I love… me.

(Edit: just let that sink in for a second….this is my goal, to have “me” be my immediate answer to what I love. Goals!)

·      Favorite way to connect with friends... the watering hole (can’t go into it, but that is it).

·      I am the best in the world at... listening!

·      My favorite insta follow is... @yanismarshall — he is a male dancer who posts incredible videos of him dancing…in high heels! He is such a fun follow. I am obsessed and show my husband his videos constantly.

·      Favorite way to sweat... spin!

(Edit: TIL she teaches spin at The Village DC Ranch. Catch her spin class on Saturday mornings at 8:30am. Therapy on a Bike — should this be a thing?!? I think so! Who wants to go with me?)

·      A book I love is.... The Circlemaker is on my list! Also loving Oprah’s The Wisdom of SundaysBeauty Sick by (Renee Engeln PhD) is a fantastic read for body image.

·      My biggest unicorn dream is to... I’m actually doing it now! I’m creating a one-stop shop for mental health. It’s always been my dream to build a space for healing. I’m creating a big group room that will be available to rent for yoga classes, workshops, art therapy, and other special events. There are three offices (one for me, one for a naturopathic physician, and one waiting for the right person to claim it!). The offices will be ready by March 1st. I am so excited! I first shared this dream in public at an event hosted by lululemon last spring. Tayne Griffin spoke and invited us all to speak our goals and one step we would take to begin the journey to achieving them. I am so excited that my dream is coming to life!

(Edit: If you are a mental health/health/dietitian/coach/physical therapist/wellbeing practitioner looking for a new home, contact Dr. Francis about renting the office.)

·      I serve my community by... getting into the rooms! Having the (often difficult) conversations. Following up on direct messages. Teaching workshops/seminars. Mentoring at The Foundress. Speaking at Powerhouse Women and many other events/occasions. Creating content to educate and support others on instagram.

·      The one thing I can't live without is... my husband Jason. I wouldn’t be where I am today without his support, love, guidance, and everything. He is truly my person.

·      My favorite lululemon item is... I love the headbands. I always wear one to work out.

Edit: Shop ALL of the lululemon headbands here!!! Disclaimer: as a member of the lululemon collective, I will make a small commission through purchases through this link.

How do you practice kindness to your body?

It’s the things I don’t do. So I don’t beat myself up. I don’t criticize the way that I look. I don’t get on the scale. I don’t track things that I eat. I don’t give a negative grimace when I look in the mirror. I don’t compare. So it’s the things I don’t do that help me practice body kindness. I used to do all of those things, and those things really negatively influenced the way I thought about how I look.

I had so many questions for Dr. Francis that I asked her if we could film a short video to discuss self love, calming the inner critic, and how she was able to shift her self talk from comparison, control, and critique to kindness. Our chat is right here. Enjoy!
